Dr Barbara Parolini was born in Verona, Italy, on April 17th, 1968. She is a vitreoretinal surgeon who exercises her practice, mainly in Italy, since 1997. She graduated in Italy from Medical School with laude in 1993 and obtained the diploma in Ophthalmology in 1997.
She has undertaken a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF (San Francisco, USA) and at UMDNJ (Newark, USA), on retinal pigment epithelium transplantation in 1994-1995 and 1997-1998.
She has been Director of Clinical Studies for FDA for the Medjet Company, in Edison USA, in 1997-1998.
She returned to Italy in 1998 and cofounded the TECLO Refractive Surgery Center in Verona, Italy in 1999 and co-chaired the center until 2006. In the same year, she began her work in the Vitreoretinal Unit of Istituto Clinico S. Anna in Brescia, Italy until 2006.
Between 2006 and 2011 she has offered her work in the Vitreoretinal Unit of the Sacrocuore Hospital in Verona, and then returned to the S. Anna Hospital in Brescia, Italy, in 2011, where she is has covered the position of Head of Department of Ophthalmology Unit.
She works as consultant in foreign countries.
Her expertise, besides the routine cases of vitreoretinal pathologies and cataract, are complex cases of submacular surgery, diabetic retinopathy and high myopia, as well as eye reconstruction after trauma.
